The big brother in the Integrated range, this amplifier is a remarkable improvement over its already impressive sibling. The Cyclone 2.2 is a fully complimentary Class AB bi-polar design biased towards Class A operation. The use of a bigger transformer coupled with higher-quality capacitors and improved circuit design has resulted in a conservatively-rated 100 Watts into 8 Ohms. The increase in solidity over the Cyclone 1.2 has to be heard to be believed - loud orchestral passages and choral music is even more powerful and the additional scale and dimension given to a performance can only be described as awesome. The greater power reserve inherent in this amplifier means that more subtle and delicate music - string quartets and unaccompanied female vocals - are projected into the room with hugely impressive control and poise. Music becomes more effortless, 'liquid sound' has been used to describe this amplifier. Other improvements involve the operation of the amplifier. Greater flexibility over input and output selection means that the Cyclone 2.2 is one of the very few amplifiers equipped as standard with a six-channel pre-amplifier section with full control of overall volume via use of our custom made Alps 6 channel potentiometer. This means that a six-channel (5.1 surround-sound processor or multi-channel SACD/DVD-A) output can be plugged straight into the amplifier, with the preamplifier outputs linking with the internal stereo power amp and external power amplifiers like the Tornado 2.2/3 three channel power amplifier or you can bypass the internal power amplifier altogether and use additional stereo power amplifier like the Tornado 2.2/2 to provide an extremely high-quality AV system. This is all done without any degradation to your two channel performance and therefore in this scenario the best of both worlds can be achieved. Traditional AV systems usually offer mediocre stereo replay at best - here the Cyclone 2.2 retains all the virtues of its stereo performance, whilst offering that same quality in a multi-channel environment. Naturally remote control is standard whilst the option of a moving magnet phono-board for vinyl replay also remains. Key Benefits
