The Thunder 2.2 is essentially a Thunder 3.1B without the up-sampling. It uses the same internal architecture and DAC but set for 44.1kHz . As a consequence it is upgradeable to it's bigger brother should you wish to do so. Sporting fully balanced and single ended outputs it is the ideal match for the Hurricane 2.2 and Tornado2.2 Amplifier or the Cyclone 2.2 Integrated amplifier. Utilising two transformers, one for analogue and one for the digital section, ensures that there is no unnecessary interference between the power supplies, even so, there is still the flexibility to add an outboard, Whirlwind 2.2 DC power supply for the analogue section for the ultimate performance This combination gives so much greater musical dimension in comparison with other products, coupled with a vastly more solid presentation and control of phrasing and dynamics, this is a must hear product.
